Adult Sunday School Teacher’s Manual (11/2005)

 

I. Purpose of Sunday School Teaching

     To communicate and teach God’s word to students so as to inspire a personal life transformation and devotion to daily life that pleases God.

      “and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you…” (Matthew 28:20)

“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of the          bread and to prayer.” (Acts 2:42)

 

II. Teacher’s Responsibilities

A.  Training and Improvement

1.      Attends planning and/or training meetings provided by the ACE Department.

2.      Commits to improving his/her teaching skills by soliciting and/or taking constructive feedback from others, making changes as needed to improve teaching quality and effectiveness.

B.  Preparation

1.      Makes time available for sufficient preparation of the teaching assignment.

2.      Attempts to effectively communicate and teach God’s Word in a manner that evokes personal life transformation of students, not just a transfer of knowledge.

3.      Gets handouts ready at least one day before class time.

4.      Reserves LCD projector as needed at least two weeks before actual usage, through the principal.

5.      Obtains approval from the ACE deacon before purchasing any gifts and prizes for the class.

6.      Fills out the class plan and gives it to the principal in a timely manner.

C.  Sunday Teaching

1.      is at the classroom 15 mins before class time to prepare for the class and to welcome students.

2.      makes sure that the tables and chairs are set up before class time.

D.  Sunday School Ministry

1.      Prays for his/her students even when outside class.

2.      Is accountable to God, the students, and the ACE Department. 

3.      Supports the goals of the ACE ministry.

4.   “Do the best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does
                  not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.”
